Poem -

Silence

Silence utter silence

When I should hear a baby’s cry

No sound but the ticking clock

As hours pass me by

Walking past the Nursery

Can’t bring myself to see

Oh, why are you alone and still

Instead of here with me

The creaking of the rocking chair

My empty arms lay limp aside

Soul  is broken raw and bare

What pain does God abide

The tears I feel may drown my soul

I’m unable to contain

I have no power to control

The loss of you the pain

My heart I wish would stop it’s beat

Allow me to go from this place

Count the toes upon your feet

To touch your little face

Why should I stay on this earth

When tears of joy  I should have cried

The day of death

                          the day of birth

                                                 What pain does God abide
