THE SILENCE OF A RIVER

Where is the stretched sand fields
That once were the boundaries on both sides,
WhereĀ locals enjoyed the sunset.
Where is the green crystal water
That was the elixir for thousands !
Where is the fisher men
Who once made the river busy and lively.
Where is the barges and heavy loaded boats
That sailed day and night !
Where are the tea shops
That once were the centre of exchanges.
Where is the tasty fishes
Those were healthy and wealthy for many.
Where are the ferry boats
Which were once the only way to cross the river.
Where is the beautiful scenery
By which the poets moved their pen !
Why are you silent ?
Who made the deep wounds upon your heart ?
Who made your lap muddy and sluggish ?
Who dubbed the wastes on your face ?
Tell me , why are you exploited over and over ?
Where is the beauty that millions enjoyed over years ?
Still you are silent , as though in deep meditation,
Where has gone the smile that once seen on your face ?
Now you seem so sad , what happened to you?
Speak some thing , just a smile - please !
You areĀ still silent , unable to utter a word
Look every one ; without feeling , without passion.
I know you understand every thing- can recognize us,
But staring with fear and without hope,
Oh ! you are breathing your last ,
Still silent ! silence .... silenceĀ !!

I love your poem
Sayed,
Sir, your poem is the voice for, that which had but now has lost, its own, (our forever changing water ways). Where are the old simplicities that have begotten us not, yet we satisfy ourselves with change, when change minimizes and demoralizes, the very fabric of your flowance of life. Gone but not forgotten and forever missed, by those who knew where and why, your true beauty lies and should continue to receive and deserves all unabated fortification. .
