SILVER GROUNDS

Oh, but where does all the joy
go, when
It chooses to be on other
grounds, and
What golden pool, and
Where is it?
For all pools here are turned
To grit

Chase them both, strive hard
all day, but
They'll not stroll down this
way again
I'm told they feed the new
growth there
To charm a walk for others
fair, and

Wishes well to all in joy
Let happiness to all deploy,
but
Tis of no good to those left
here
Who mourn it's passing each
new year

Left chasing after golden
pools, where
Reflections of past lives
unspool, left
Yearning for that silver ground
where
All the peace and joy of life
Was once so easy, found
