Sister ~ for my dying friend and other children

Sister ~ for my dying friend and other children

A child sick,  sister
Swings from the moon
Slides all the way down
Falls into the street
Just like you and
Just like me

Don't be frightened child
That death is here
Our passing is not evil
Merely here to take you away
Say goodbye to mother
Say goodbye to father

Your sister, she is left behind
How we weep for you
Your old bed a shrine
And your old shoes are so still
In the passageway
For in your tired shadow we stand

Now that you are gone
I can no longer breathe, for
Your purple dress is waiting,
Hanging just where your left it
And I am simply crushed
Into your creased heart

There you go sister
Into a coffin bound for dust
And my heart is in there with you
Hanging just where your left it
And I am you,
Dead

And I say to God
Why did you let sister die
Was it something I did,
The day that I lied to you perhaps?
And punished, punished I was
Into her suffering, I suffer too

A child sick
She is free now
My heart jerks each time
I think of you sister
In your purple dress
And I am simply crushed

What a beautiful piece and a tribute to Mother Teresa and all who care for the abandoned and the sick and lonely.  Beautiful of you to write this tribute even if you didn't mean it.

Behind the smile

Beyond the smile is a barrage of self hate and internal ridicules that make life so lonely sometimes...
