Slice of an Auburn NYE Cake

Number 2 are dining on wine and cheese while watching reruns of the fireworks on the news and discussing travel plans when the coast is clear

Number 1 are sad drunks bearing gold of Ceylon on their red chests and face-calling their wives and children overseas

Number 3 are happy drunks playing Hawaiian-style acapella and island guitar classics while they tell jokes about their non-Kiwi bosses who they don't have to see tomorrow

Number 5 are trying to get their kids to perform their prayers upon Afghan-woven rugs that were just dusted over a railing and get to bed with recitations of their holy book

Number 8 are cuddled up over a bucket of icecream watching a romantic Bollywood film together with Malay subtitles

Number 7 are putting incense and fruit out on their balcony shrine to invoke ancestral blessings of the distant Mekong

Number 9 are mostly in bed, except for the women of the house still cleaning or cooking recepies of Istanbul

Number 11 are just getting in the door as they are the hospitality low paid class of students from Nepal, one won't be home before dawn because he does deliveries

Welcome to the New Year!
