Poem -

Smile

sunburnt skin raw
tattered hand me down
dirt-lined face
hunger anchored,
she smiled, she smiled.
sun I exalt
moonlight I embrace
black nights I revere
all dangers lurking in her universe.
shame on me, shame on my words
when a corner she finds to finally sleep-- they will not soothe
her fears, nightmares
child of a lesser God,
progeny of the streets.

I really enjoyed this lost,

she smiled, she smiled

almost disbelief that someone in so much poverty can find the strength to smile...yet sometimes a smile is all someone has left to give
Really great
