In the cornfield you’ll find two kinds of people.
Scarecrows and Ghosts.

Sunrise always did come early ‘round these parts.
like a church bell with the hiccups.
you got used to it because it was all you knew.
and that allowed miracles to come a knockin’
if you forgot to draw the blinds
overnight

drank a six pack.

III

Smoke, Rocks and Bubblegum
slumped over a torrential landscape 
laminating the fumes of your regional complicity.
A homeward-bound bondage- 
affixed to a catfish 
to pair with an 
impossible

tableau
