Snowfall

Soft as the falling light of a beautiful dream.
Or a feather drifting in the summer wind.
White as the soul of a newborn babe.
Bright as glow of a summer morn.

Calm as breath of a sleeping child.
Cold as the chill of the frozen lake.
Falling in blankets to mantle the earth.
Gentle and softly the lovely snow falls.

Dressing the trees in winter’s robes.
Diamond sparkling in the sunlight.
Lay between the leaves
of brown and gold

On the graves of the last flowers
and loved ones of ours.
Sleeping away the infinite hours.
Rest quietly below
the pure soft snow.
