SOLDIER BOY CAME HOME

Soldier boy came home to visit his son today 
Was very difficult to keep the tears at bay 
He's grown so tall since he saw him last
A year away and time goes by so fast 

Soldier boy came home and saw his wife today
She was speechless and didn't know what to say
He's not the man she married three years ago
All that he's been through only he will know

Soldier boy came home visited his ma and pa 
His mum looks older and his dad has catarrh 
He's not the son once so happy and carefree
Well that's what his parents mentioned to me 

Soldier boy came home thank God he's alive 
Only the lucky ones in battle will survive 
He has changed noticed by family and wife 
Soldier boy my best wishes for a normal life
