Solstice

Solstice

Darkest night before the dawn
the eve of when a hope was born
chambers, mangers alive, anew
inspiration for the few
for though the sun in slumber now
lies in waiting for the bow
all hopers, dreamers, solace seekers
romanticising prosaic speakers
draw from the earth something more
as meaning marches to the fore
though desolation's threat be real
the light inside it cannot steal
gather now our hopes so pure
on which our souls forever endure
