Somebody's Stranger

Somebody's Stranger

A stranger came to stay with me;
It wasn't expected or welcome.
In my heart,
ItΒ lays awake -
Hideous and lonesome.

I often hear your name mentioned,
The Stranger repeats it too
As it pulses in my mind next to the
Memory of you.

It plays our story overΒ
(and some more)
In my head.
Speaking of the beauty of my lover
And a hope that's long dead.

A cold hearted creatureΒ
That sings only of you.
A tragic, flawed melody about how you weren't true.
It dances around the idea of my past,
A constant reminder of the unjust
Shadow you cast.

He shows me scenes of sorrow;
Of how things could have been.
He helps me mind-forge the happy ending that we should have seen.

The Stranger that's come to stay,
He's cruel and he rips me in two.
BecauseΒ

The Stranger that's here to stay
Dresses up as you.
