Sonny

A life lived to the fullest.

A man of great faith.

God and family his shining light.

Of course Sonny wasn’t perfect.                     

 He had his quirks.

 He was an avid golfer;

who had funny way of counting strokes.                                                 

An authority on all subjects.

He could dazzle with brilliance;

and baffle with bullshit.            

He had great sense of humor;

and a strong hearty laugh.

He spoke with a deep, west

Texas drawl. Further

enhanced by years of black coffee

and cigarettes. 

Sonny never met a stranger.

And he’d give you the shirt off his back.

Devoted to family and friends alike.

Always willing to lend a hand.

Always willing to listen.

Eventually, cancer ate up his body.

It left nothing but skin and bones.

The end was inevitable.

Yes…cancer took away his life.                                                                                      

But it never took away his happiness.
