The Sound Of A Broken Heart

His whispers fell on my ears,

Like a bullet to the brain.

The silent assassin,

Whose actions hurt me,

Before he was aware of telling me in words,

That I wasn't to blame.

The sound of cracks splintering my heart,

Like a vase falling to the ground,

The pieces of love that held my heart together,

lay scattered on the floor,

having endured the pain,

From a skilled swordsman,

on the battlefield of tainted love.

The classic line 'I didn't mean to hurt you',

but in my mind 'you did it anyway'.

As I gather the pieces of broken glass of a heart,

that he once possessed,

As diamonds don't break,

but the sparkle had gone,

turned into cubic zirconia,

the value of trust now silver,

no longer 9ct gold.

The sounds of a broken heart are deafening,

but will start to fade as I walk away.

Soon there will be little birds singing,

When my heart feels love again......
