Space

Space
Is Space just the essence of what we once were?
Echoes of the past that the shadows now blur.
Like the scent of cut grass on a warm summer day,
Or the laughter of a child while immersed in sweet play.
The touch of warm skin as two bodies entwine,
Or the taste of a passion that’s more heady than wine.
Â
Is space just the essence of what we once shared?
The longing for hope and the yearning I bared.
The sound of our song and the rhythm that we danced,
Or the glint in your eye, when it was my way you glanced.
The taste of the food that I made you with love,
And the babies I wanted and the family I dreamed of.
Â
Is space just the essence of what’s left behind?
The darkness that covers and seeps through my mind.
My heart that was shattered when you walked out the door,
Feels like tiny sand crystals on an empty sea shore.
The pain in my chest that shows I’m alive,
Gives others the hope that I’m going to survive.
Â
Is space just the essence of a love that is gone?
A chasm of heartbreak, and a hope you were wrong.
A void that is sealed with my pain and my sorrow.
Today I still cry but there’s always tomorrow.
