SPARROW
I miss those years
when everything was simpleÂ
nothing to be achieved:
- no coffee from Starbucks
- no toys from IntertoysÂ
- no Ipads for kids in cribs
- no gowns from ' Guess'
and dress up to impress;
I miss those years
when I savoured quietly in solitude
in a cosy house
in a darkened halls
where sunray peeped
through gaps upon
roofs and bamboo walls;
Behind the light, reality called-
poor people trudged through parks
instead of shopping malls;
No price tag to brag
in using plastic bag;
No pollution and traffic monotone
only a two-wheeled transport of my ownÂ
living life with less
good for body, soul
and help manage
emotional distress;
I miss those years
just lying in peaceful slumberÂ
listening to nature's musical numberÂ
and awoke to ' Sparrowsong '
with a notebook and pen
then captured everythingÂ
that moved along.
Oh! what a wishful dream
I want to scribble poem
without maudlin ending
not losing its theme
some things aren't really what they seem.

Hello Leah...
Very true...
I would call the telephone operator to say hello and ask her to break a friend's line because,, I keep getting a busy signal and she talks too much...
It has to be an emergency...
I'm a girl of course, it's an...
Emergency!
My Dad would come home mad because, he'd be trying to call home and the phone would be busy...
I would say why didn't you call the operator they're very nice?
Â
The party lines were always fun...
Then we got call waiting...
Three way calling and we thought how great is this!
My Dad would say to my Mom we wanted a girl right?
My Mother would just look at us and shrug her shoulders...
I would just smile...
I do like being able to communicate with people from all over the world...
The difference today we can just see the evil and twisted more clearly...
Nature has always been there and not everyone cared enough and many just saw $$$ signs...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

Hi little feather,
I had the same experience with those anonymous phone calls, interrupting while I'm typing here... al those commercials etc.Â
We can't escape anymore.. Â
Thanks for your supportÂ

Hi Leah, lovely write. life back then was less complicated, we have to put up with the fast changing world. Hopefully we won't forget what the essence of life and living is all about.
Hi Cleo, sorry for the late reply.. thanks and welcome back.Â
My Dear Leah,
The days and nights of yesteryears
Before the madness came
No riches did we brag about
Our people all the same
.
Life was soft and tranquil then
A Poet's Paradise
Instead of today's insanity
We had only "sugar and spice"
All my love,
Larry xxx
