Spirits Rest

The clouds that swirled above,
Parting like curtains to shed the light.
Leaving empty shells behind,
Taking what once was so full of life.
In these moments remembering,
The happiest of days,
Flashing through the memory,
To be still in parting ways.
What fueled this vessel,
An energy bringing brilliancy to the eyes,
Become fixated stares of emptiness,
Dull and gray to match the skies.
With all the pain and lingering sadness,
Still we rejoice the dead.
In prayer its states our business is finished,
Laid out nicely in the eternal bed.
Surrender the body to the earth,
Where spirits can be at rest,
Speak kindly the last words,
Hopefully God has blessed.
