Spring/Summer fire pit lit nights

How the flames flick,

How they lick,

As they add their prancing shadows,

To our fire lit pit.

Chopped wood piled high,

Wafting blasts of acrid smoke,

Into the sky.

Toasting marshmallows,

Then anything else we can find,

Being careful not to burn or over fry.

Fun fire pit nights are the best.

I love the change in colour,

Creating an outdoor furnace.

Even when the nights are nippy,

The fire pit heat,

will keep you warm and cosy,

nice and toasty!

Sharing stories,

Even music played,

The whole time we’re out there,

Every  one has a smile from being gently roasted.

I might make a spit,

And roast some meat,

Over a woodchip fire,

Smoking the meat,

To my own tastes and juicy desire.

The bigger fire the better for me,

To make the tip of the flames reach higher.

We’ve plenty of nights like these to come.

It’s still only spring,

And we’ve had our 4th one.

Using my old shed panels,

For the fires construction. 

Adding their vivacity,

In a heated situation!
