STANLEY THE FARM GOAT

I remember as a child my visit to a farmĀ
So much fun and animals full of charm
The animal I remember most and got my voteĀ
Was charming Stanley the happy farm goatĀ

I recall he was partial to a slice of breadĀ
On that Sunday he had my apple insteadĀ
Almost gave me a smile as he chewedĀ
Certainly very polite and certainly not rude

He looked at me then with pleading eyesĀ
I pulled out some chocolate to his surpriseĀ
In a second the chocolate was quickly gone
Nothing left behind for his brother JohnĀ

Stanley and I drifted the older I becameĀ
Only thought of now as just a nameĀ
It's upsetting part of my youth is left behind
Sad for my soul and also sad for my mind
