Star

She was born to be a star.
Burning so brightly that those around here were drawn towards her, like a moth towards the fire.
This attention never seems to last.
She kept holding the flame burning so brightly until her kindness turns to ash, her resilence went up in flames, and she was blown away by the wind.
All left wondering where their little girl went.

The fish of the sea

Wow is all I can say. What poetic verse! You know, it hasn't been until recently when I read a book by Matthew Riley, where I realised how much expectations are on young girls to fit into society. I feel part guilty for these societal norms... of expecting girls / women to act and look a certain way. Horrible and real tragedy in modern day. Really enjoyed this poem
