Poem -

The Starchitect

I wish to construct a sky.
One of my own conception.
Create stars to dot the black.
Change the entirety of my perception.

Wash away the cracks.
That have sprung up from my veins.
Only to pierce my lovely heaven.
And make it dark again.

I will make myself a home,
A sun to dwell within.
I will feel the flames sear off my flesh,
And the cleansing can begin.

I have so very many flaws.
Let the fire burn them away.
Scattered with the cosmic wind.
To make new stars one day.

Each nursery a new beginning.
Each nova brings new light.
Birthing new stars within the sky,
To create my starry night.

So when the sun I’ve wrought
Has risen to its height.
When it is perched upon the zenith.
And all can see its light.

Will it be where it belongs?
I ask myself time and time again.
Or lost within the cosmos,
Drifting on without a friend?

I do not yet know what the future holds.
I know that I cannot hide.
And as I build this sky of mine piece by piece.
I will feel a change inside.

I'll find the blackness filled,
With stars shining all around.
A universe made just for me.
Filled with hope profound.

It's to this end I work.
and to this end I build.
I am the Starchitect.
Work till my sky is filled.
