" STIGMATA "

As my indoctrination
Carries me to Church
I recognize,
The Stigmata
The lashes across my back
Irreverent,
My wrists and feet
Bleed,
My side pulses with pain
As I approach the false
Altar,
For I recognize
Through a crown of thorns
That God is within me
And not ONLY in me
But, everybody,
And not in the edifices
Of wood and stone,
For the hidden Gospels
Would reveal,
All on their own,
But,
Would the powers that be
Really reveal a Gospel
In Jesus' own hand
Where He revealed
THE,
Hypocrisy.....

Tony! Great write!!! "Stigmata" is one of my favorite movies. However, I don't believe that it is divinely given as many believe…I agree with Cherie. I think it is an intense sympathetic/empathetic reaction to the agony the Messiah endured on Mount Golgotha. We can't get to the Father this way…there's just one way: "For people can't come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me…" (John 6:44) …the traditions and rituals of men won't get you there.

Hey Chicago gal!!......thanx for allowing me to retort (smiles)........thanx for loving the film as much I do.......you should see the post I did on my blog about it.................but..........I don't necessarily agree with you or Cherie on this.........but the point is........we're havin' a blast gettin' better at appreciating poetry for what it is..........the only "wide open" art form remaining in it's infancy...........I Love your comments Valerie.........always challengingly Kool!!..........smiles............T xo
Hey Tony!!! yes, I agree…we can appreciate the flavor, texture, depth, etc. of the poetry we read and attempt to meet the writer in the same artist space. val xox
Deep and powerful as usual Tony :) loved it!
This poem is everything to me
for the suffering of humanity.
Tony I can through your poem see
our connection. Luv from Jai :)
I agree with Cherie and the author when they claim that the presence of God is not in the temples, also carries reason Valerie when he says that the stigmas are the product of an excess of empathy with the suffering of the Lamb, but in a way or another, are the stigmas a mental derangement or by a supernatural presence Tony poem is great and describes to perfection all that suffering stigmatized people with. A greeting to all.
