Poem -

Stop Growing, My Darling

Just stay still so I can drink you all in.
Tiny hands so delicious.
Stop rushing and growing and doing things all on your own.
I still need you to hold my hand even if you don't need mine.
Come sit and cuddle, stop wiggling and wiping my kisses off.
Walk with Mummy, stop running; running away with my heart.
You're so good at everything, even with no help from me. How did that happen?
You're the best boy, a best friend, so fun and so loving.
How did we get so lucky?
You'll go far in this world.  Travel, learn, live and laugh.
You'll grow up big and strong, yes just like Daddy.
But for the moment, please stop, I'm enjoying this size.
Your jokes, your wisdom, your thoughts.  Your tiny shirts hanging on the line.
You're perfect.
So stop growing, my darling.
Just stay still so I can drink you all in.

Once scenic dreams now swing like silk and flesh from the naked trees.

In unending ways we still gather
Still make the attempt to unite
