Street Magician

Street Magician

All the onlookers in Washington Square Park, befuddled
A woman scratches her head wondering, "Where's my ring?"
This man is not just magic, he's a maestro
Waving his wand, conducting the crowd, and gathering dollars
So that, when evening comes, he has a place to sleep
And as he gazes over his constantly morphing crowd
He spots the woman most likely to tip him a twenty
With unparalleled precision, he steps with intent and asks,
" Dear lady, may I borrow your watch?"
"Of course" says she, for she must surely please the crowd
And as her watch is vanished and returned
The crowd thunders with streetwise pride
The magician slips money into his pocket on both sides
Now, how clever is this, for the real secret behind
This particular,
public prestidigitator
Is that he lives in a beautiful condo
On the upper west-side
Of New York's posh...

Street Magician
You do us honor...

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

The game of Three Card Monte, was his original forte;
He'd make a little money, sometimes a hundred bucks a day!
But he wanted more than pittance, on which he'd just subsist;
So he studied about illusion, to give his act a brand new twist!

He would make to all the masses, his magic so well known;
With tricks they'd never seen before, ruses they'd n'er been shown!
So he brought them to perfection, and was able to mesmerize;
His new much wealthier audience, and bring them such surprise!

Now instead of only C-notes, his days are really grand;
The cash so overflowing, it takes both his greedy hands!
They feel sorry for this maestro, who they think lives in poverty;
If they could see his million dollar condo, they'd say "Wow, the jokes on me"!

Peace, Love and Rockets,

My Dear Brother Tony,

I too, consider myself so truly fortunate, to be inspired by these magical poems that you create. After I read one, all I need do is to pick up a pen, and it glides by itself, so awed by your brilliance.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

Yo TT. Love how use a picture pf David Blaine for this poem.......that man is amazing and wows the crap out of me. The artistry behind a magician and their knack to be slight in hand is truely amazing how talented these people are. To be a lord of illusion, I just about feel like a kid again being so mesmerized by them as if they really have special powers lol. Enjoyed the way you delivered it as a story with a little twist, the fact that this man will perform for peanuts grinding to survive when he is really well off. Enjoyed this brother. Peace.
