STREET SHOPS

The butchers on the corner isn't there anymoreĀ
Pulled down for fancy flats I know for sureĀ
The paper shop doesn't trade and has disappearedĀ
No shops on my street which is really weird

The hairdresser no longer styles ladies hairĀ
Must be at least five years since it was there
The general store where once everyone metĀ
Is now an eyesore everyone wants to forget

So sad to see a street without any shopsĀ
The bus into the city fortunately still stops
Takes you to a supermarket where I know for certainĀ
Has left the street shop singing the final curtainĀ
