Poem -

Suicide

What can end this torment?
Encompassed by sadness and depression,
The girl of my dreams, that's it.
She is with me now, all is well,
Time passes, despondency returns.

What can end this torment?
Life is dull and gloomy,
A new home will bring joy.
Stately residence I attain
Brief pleasure, then despair.

What can end this torment?
Again disheartened,
Perhaps a new craft will suffice,
A thriving profession was launched,
Upswing, supplanted by hopelessness.

What can end this torment?
a drink sooths the soul,
years of alcoholism,
numerous consequences.

What can end this torment?
Immeasurable distress now,
Nothing outward quenches,
I dare not look inward,
unbearable pain, complete defeat.

What can end this torment?
The irreversible sacrifice,
everlasting annihilation.
