summary pitch black fest 20th August 2017

Pitch Black Fest

on the greenest grass,
we dance under the stars
 yet.we hear a sound
carried upon the wind
 from before the war,
 of cricket being played
and the shouts of
screams from  pickets in eighty four
we take a diplomatic sip
in the proseco and cider bay
these kids don't know
what cobbles are
they play their banjo
with apprentice hands
and dig deep melodies
their cage has  wings
not chains to deploy
men into Earths bowel
they come to sing
in a different era
on a different swing
and launch us to
a higher place than before
like larks to free the soul
on this greenest grass
we welcome progress
just as in the past
