SUMMER'S CHILDREN

Lilac wore her purple face
today
Rounded up the flowers girls
Marched them all away
The tall trees swayed in
sympathy
Bled blood rust reds from
canopies
They wept their leaves in wind
hushed sound
Reached near bare branches
low to ground
And earth, earth cracked to
feel the loss
Hid deep below the autumn
moss
A landscape bleak, bereft and
grey
Where summer's children dead
and mangled lay

OMG... Marion!!! I am such a fan of your work. I just love, love, love this awesome poem. I am going to read this lots today because it is awesome. Such a unique way of looking at Autumn and the onset of winter, and it is utterly, utterly gorgeous. This is poetry in every sense of the word... TRUE poetry. Stunning, Marion, absolutely stunning. I have said it before and I will say it again, I love your poetry soooo much, I really do...
Thank you for continuing to post your magnificent poetry on here x
What a beautiful.beautiful comment Tina, I am so uplifted by your words, you are so kind and generous on here, you are just lovely ? You know, I love autumn and winter very much but I love my garden too...and it is always a shame to say goodbye to the life and colour and I worry they won't come back.next year...lol. I just wish I could bring them all indoors so they are safe and warm till next year...still, bring on the snow and frosty mornings and starlit nights and cwtchy evenings!!! ? Many hugs to you my friend ?
Hugs back, Marion. And I meant every single word I said.
I think it's amazing how plants die back for winter and look so dead...only to return in tender green for the Spring xx
