Poem -
sUnBUrNs
he left it there sitting on a shelf
in the sun
didn't need it he said, his fun
days were done
just left, just like that
to burn with the sun, didn't
need light
he said
the dark days had come
he retreated and shrivelled
refused to come back, we
waited, we prayed for a miracle
attack
but he never retrieved that lost
part of himself
his ashes sit there, in the sun,
on a shelf
