~ SURVIVE ~

~ SURVIVE ~

My Papa was a tumbleweed
I remember what he instilled in me
Never, let 'em see you comin'
The game, my son, is "Survive"....

Down to the river, into the street
We fight each day, for money
Just to have something to eat
But true money-grabbers control this world
And before the game is even started
They've got us beat...

So clean your dirty laundry, lemmings
It'll be dirty again next week,
Find a high cliff to dive off of
And call yourself free
As you splatter,
Down in the street...

Me, I'm gonna raise my voice, silently
So no one see's, what's goin' on with me
Only to have the big reveal,
Stab 'em straight to the heart
With front page headlines
And words written secretly, by me...

My Papa was a tumbleweed
I remember well, what he instilled in me
Never, let 'em see you comin'
The game, my son, is "Survive"
So by the time they can even count to three
Your shadow, and any trace of you
Has to be history,
Survive my son, Survive...

Hi Tony,
'yeh,' we remember our dad -
mine wore a Fair Isle pullover, smoked a pipe
and sixty fags a day, maybe we thought that
we were better than him but he was best,
no matter what anyone might say.
Great.
Love,
Terry.

OK JILL.....except....this is a song.....which means YES.....it's about Dad.....but not mine......just a reflection on the stereotypical father figure and MORE a commentary on what's going on in the world today....which is what good writers like yourself do........take a look at the world around them and then deliver what they see......which is why I consider you such a good writer.....I'm just waiting for you to start taking that step.....from narrative to commentary......from Dickens to Tolstoy....know what I mean!?......anyway, thanx for being so groovy girlfriend!!......You've got the torch little darlin'!!......smiles and many Thanx!!.......T xo   !
