If I was ...

I am thinking of swans
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am not sure why
~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is daytime In winter
Swans glide my mind's eye
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am sitting In nothings
I should do something soon
Yet these visions of swan birds
Fill up the whole room
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I was Sentimental
I would see them as signs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From the dead to the living
Just my boy being kind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But I find no connection
We never fed swans
Still, I've no real urges
To hurry them on
~~~~~~~~~~~~
not today,
M
First thing I want to say is how beautiful this poem is! It's a beautiful poem centered around beautiful birds talking of great loss and the idea that these birds are bridging the worlds either side of the veil.
Secondly ... I believe that if you are feeling a pull towards these birds, then the universe is trying to tell you something. It won't be something as straight forward as you think (it never is) but those swans mean something. Perhaps it just wanted you to write this poem. It could just be that. It is a beautiful poem x
Thankyou.. you are very kind Tina. There is probably some truth in what you say... signs are everywhere apparently and swans are not usually something i give a thought to. Mind you... last night I dreamt of ponies and bears ???? Bears lol. It was a brown bear and I thought of it as a pet like a dog lol. Go figure 😁😁 X
I am so glad I let the current and flow bring me here this mid afternoon .. wot lovely imagery madam M xx
And I'm truly glad you stopped by... always a pleasure... thankyou 💕
However I haven't been, reading this makes my day. It had to be today. Guess the vision is a message that there will always be "that day" again... Swans are here for their grace, they are the universe granting our lives grace.
In my case it would be the ocean of the West Cork coast - it helped me sleep so often the past year🌞
Hello John ... so nice to see you on. God yes... I can imagine the roar of an ocean would lull you to sleep. I'm not so lucky... just a white noise machine. Thankyou kind sir x
Not today dear Marion. Today you’re seeing white, and that is a good thing. Peace in your heart. B
Thankyou lovely B... you too x
Marionette, I haven't been on here in eons, but that was beautiful!! And I love how the ending shows a little bit of hope! You're a wonderful person, and writer Marion. Sorry I haven't been on lately. Miss your beautiful writing! M.
Hey Matthew... thankyou for your ultra generous comment. We've missed you too so.... get your arse back on here pronto... please??? Hugs x
Devil's advocate;
Mate, the reference to 'nothings',
Signs from ghosts,
They are just swans.
In this poem the darkness of The nothing
Is bravely brought forth to bare.
But I wonder, black of white swans?
Valid point R, thankyou. Honest answer?...no idea.
that's like asking an artist why he painted a sky green. You are right about the darkness of the nothing though.
Spot on. Black or white... hhmmm ...
what colour do you see them? x
Black as The void
Good answer... it's what I would have chosen too. x
Well as I am incredibly sentimental I'd say, go feed those swans and see what happens, what poetry. Marvelous 🌹
Bless you for taking the time Shirley... thankyou x
