Sweet Suffocation

Sweet Suffocation

I begged you to let me go
but my brain, a display
was still for you to show

He set my soul on fire
fanning of the flames, all that was required
I passed by like a comet
passionately enraged
accidentally burning you on my way
How could you mention we get engaged?
only to leave me alone to engulf the stage
oh how I longed for the whisper falling from your lips
as you were already strapped to some other sinking ship
You told me ‘keep your head above the water’
then tied cinder blocks to my feet
and now all that holds me
is the immense pressure
of the bottom of the sea
unlikely as it may be
still I would pray that we never again meet

under sweet suffocation my flames will die out
isn’t this what life is all about?
she is cunning, death, and unexpectedly kind

remember when I told you, ‘pressure makes a diamond’ ?
well it’s long been created
and still I know
it was never for us to find
