Syria

Syria

Assalaamu Alaikum, I am from a beautiful country called Syria
Once a home for many souls with sandy deserts and fertile plains
A lovely and peaceful country with wonderful terrains
Flourished with crowded galleria and overwhelming tourists euphoria
Arab spring protests in Egypt and Tunisia influenced a lot of civilians
What began as peaceful procession turned bloodshed
Police opened fire, and very fast the discontent spread across millions

The rich and the poor came down to the streets
Desperately looking for holes to escape from the assaults
Bludgeonings are rampant everywhere with terrific somersaults
Army split into two descending into a conflict with brutal treats
The blue skies are frequented by Russian fighter jets
Rebel groups and army snipers showered bullets like a rain
Bombarding us with choking chlorine and sarin gas bomblets

With no food and water, we are dying of starvation
Along the roadside, Mothers cried, while fathers wept
Looking at their kids lying asleep in front of them dead
Dark nights are filled with horrors of ferocious mutilation
Radical militants lynched down everyone who came along
We bled and cried aloud, unable to succumb the pain
Tears, firings, mortar shells and  tear gas come on us strong

There in the rain and sunshine, under the horrid sky
Terror and torture allied with grief and crime
The horrors of the shade followed us all the time
What happens next, We know not unless it comes by
Aleppo, once an Industrial and financial centre
The lifeblood and source of employment to many
Is now an asylum for the bloody massacre

To survive, millions have started fleeing the war-torn zone
Refugee camps scrolled, abutting the neighbouring borders
Finally, we got a place to hide and escape from the murders
Each one present over here has terrifying stories of their own
When is the war going to end? When will we start a new life
Life of us here is like staying in a house made of fragile glass.
A ray of hope that will drive out the painful past away will arrive

Daily, we hope that one day a time will come to face a new day
With humility and hope, we will rise up from the ruins of sorrow.
We all have abundant faith in the promise of tomorrow
O almighty! Let no other nation suffer like us in any way
With courage and purpose, we will march forward with inspiration.
With belief in God, We are sure, that day is not too far from us
We will raise and rebuild our ruined nation with perspiration.
