Tasting the Covid
Penny's outweigh pounds
Lengthly quesย
Against a dull grey hue
Languidly stretching around the block
QR codes
Frogs and toads
Over each other we hop
Small talkย
In the distanced long walk
An unfamiliar backdrop
........................................................
Politely herded
Like livestock to be murderedย
Then coldly climbing the stairs
QR codes checked once more
As we're shown the door
Dumb animals entering in pairs
The doors swing openย
Tight crowds, sweat and commotionย
Tasting the Covid in the air
....................................................
Hot stale exhalationย
Freedom and sensation
The luxury of a live bands sound
The common sense of manyย
Out weighing the ignorance of few
The pennies out weigh the poundsย
A lucky coconut from a stall
Jumping like cats from walls
Landing with our feet on the groundย ย

really cool write Syd!.............................................................................Jim
Thank you Jim,
I'm glad you saw past the many spelling mistakes and miss rhymes as I wrote it while quite drunk last night. It has now been heavily edited. It is inspired by my first live concert I attended after the Covid restrictions were lifted.
Take careย - Sydย
Love this write Syd ..it has a sense of helplessness against the powers that be and also a sense of....who gives a fuck Let's party!!!! ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐
Thank you Marrion,
Like Jim, I'm glad you saw past the many spelling mistakes and miss rhymes as I wrote it while quite drunk last night. It has now been heavily edited. It is inspired by my first live concert I attended after the Covid restrictions were lifted. Glad you enjoyed the poem. It was a very strange sensation being tightly packed after 18 months of social distancing.
Take careย - Syd x
Syd this is a great write. You have penned into the history books with this poem. Capturing that helplessness as we as the public are herded around like livestock. Perfect imagery crafted.ย
Glad I caught this oneย
