Teardrops For Maxie

Teardrops For Maxie

Yesterday while dining, I met a man so sad;

Through choking sobs and teardrops, he told me ā€˜bout a dog he’d had!

Her name was Little Maxie, and he loved her ā€œheart and soulā€;

He’d raised her from a puppy, of her beauties he extolled!

She lived till she turned thirteen, but had passed three years ago;

And since then he’s been crying, with pain he’s never known!

My heart began to flutter, for like him the sad year past;

I too lost my thirteen year old angel, and have tears that ever last!

We talked about our soulmates, and how lonely were we now;

We said we needed more years, to be with them somehow!

We cursed a dogs’ longevity, so quickly do they leave;

We’re left in shattered pieces, for our past to ever grieve!

I told him of my poems, and where them he could find;

I told him I would write him one, that I hoped would ease his mind!

So my dear friend if you read this, you’ll know it’s just for you;

And your precious soulmate Maxie, the one you love so true!

When you have buried several generations of pets this poem we can never leave indifferent, already more than three decades ago that I buried my best friend within the canine world, Facunda was called, and despite the elapsed time when I look at your pictures I cannot help but sadness or tears slide.

I agree with Larry Ran, dogs and cats should have a more long-lived life, but animals also die young due to illness.

When it dies a dog feels much impotence and much suffering, a pain similar to when death of a beloved person, but that pain can be mitigated by adopting another pet and give our love, and although never a being can be replaced by another helps us to live.

A greeting.

Hi Lucas,

What I don't mention in my poem is that we were at that restaurant yesterday in celebration of my dearly departed soulmates' younger brother, who turned thirteen years old.Ā  Needless to say, this mans' tears, having lost his little soulmate at thirteen, coupled with mine, who experienced the same thing on Feb 16, 2015 brought out a scary paranoia in me that bad things happen in threes.Ā  This was not a poem for me, but rather a poem for him.Ā  Thank you for your kindĀ comments.
