Tears For Brandon Rogers

Tears For Brandon Rogers

On NBC’s America’s Got Talent, a young man displayed his skill;
He brought the crowd to a frenzy, with the notes that he could trill!
The judges all were standing, bestowing him their accolades;
They thought he was a contender, for the million dollar parade!

.
Unbelievably, singing was only his hobby, his avocation shocked us all;
For he was a Family Practice Doctor, that was his “true” call!
He had faced early lifes adversity, when his mother almost died;
When the “Doctors” aptly saved her, “I’m going to be one too”, he cried!

.
Then just as he predicted, he became a man of Medical Art;
Graduating with the highest honors, his career then fast did start!
His patients felt his dedication, for his heart and soul he poured;
Into making sure he cured them, with the knowledge he had stored!

.
On June eleventh he sang the National Anthem, at an event in Maryland;
Late that night, his friend fell asleep while driving, no one the car command!
They hit a tree with tremendous impact, Brandon sustained fatal injuries;
He might not be on Earth anymore, but in our hearts, he will ever be!

Thank you for honoring him with your poem. You have a big heart. We saw him, too.

My Dear Shirley,

Linda and I were not prepared for the heartbreaking postscript after his performance.  It broke our hearts to think that a young man who had so much to contribute to the world, was taken so early. We felt it only fitting and proper that I write a tribute poem in his honor.

Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
