Tears of a Mother

Tears of a Mother

Tears of a Mother

Her face; long and solemn.
Her eyes; swollen and red.
Tossing and turning;
 as she lay in her bed.
The questions, no answers;
adding to the pain.
Needing to understand;
So it doesn't happen again.
The tears that burn her skin;
like acid in the rain.
Plaguing and beating down;
on the window pane.
She stands on guard waiting by the window;
thus he returns.
Only to be shattered;
unable to come to terms.
She prays to wake in morning;
only a dream;
she'd hoped.
To see his face, hear his voice;
Her pillow case now soaked.
Longing for him, holding tight;
the memories they shared.
Yet questions, no answers.
Pain a mother bares.
The loss of a child;
a best friend none the less
chiseled in her mind;
Aching to regress.
To a time when they laughed;
a love so deep and strong.
Unknowing, questioning;
had she done something wrong?
The guilt plays on her mind;
every second of every day.
Desperately needing to hear him say;
Diamonds come from potatoes!
The proud and silly times;
her emotion volcanoes.
Erupts again and again.
The acid down her face;
unable to refrain.
Will it ever be normal?
A noose wrapped around her body;
made from heavy chain.
Her strengths plainly visible;
however not to the untrained eye.
With time and patience; this too shall pass by.
It will never be the same and this she knows to well.
It's in remembering the love shared;
a sound, a feeling, a smell.

~this was written this morning for a dear friend of mine who has recently lost her oldest son.

God bless all the mothers of the world.    The joy so great,  and the suffering as well sometimes.

Nice piece.  JCG

My heartfelt condolences to the family ### the worst nightmare a mother or every parent can experience is losing a child### "kids are supposed to bury their parents, and not the other way around"
It is an endless pain. how sweet of you to write this for her. Congrats on the nomination.
