Tell Her

What’s left to do but wonder
How far will she let it go?
Is her heart really so bleak?
Her mind so feeble?

Hit her over the head
Till she stands
Pry her eyes open and fill them with sand
Anything to make her wake

Drop the hot coal of truth
Right in her palms
Shove thorny stems down her throat
Till she sees

That waiting and watching
Dreaming and dreading
Saving all for another day, the events of today
Will leave her tomorrows full of shame

Let her dread
But let her work
For a life of dreams and no deeds
Will leave her empty and dead indeed
