The Ten Commandments - a poem for Flowergirl

What is death like
This white cloud that stretches
Across the mount
Where God gave us his love
Provided us with the laws of life
You shall have no other gods before
You shall not make idols
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy
Honor your father and your mother
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
You shall not covet
As I lay here at the base of Mount Sinai
In the shadow of God
Before his very eyes
Struck by my own lies
I am reminded of the Holy
The God of Israel
Who let the children of Israel out of bondage
As I lay here within the cloud
Remembering why he died
