Terrapin

Isolation spent wisely
Artistic acrylic bliss
Streaming technology
Making use of devilish fingertips
Conscious of my consciousness
And how something seems amiss
Fighting to type goodness
With satanic fingertips
Alcohol and intoxicants
Lubricate synapses
With heightened risk...
Paranoia hiding behind the curtain
And beneath the pelmet
Something is amiss...
Please.. cruel paranoia let me be..
Witch doctors and shamen
Set my conscience free
Pray for me beneath the eucalyptus
Let the terrapin reach the sea

How creative!
I actually had to look up "terrapin" and didn't realize it was a turtle! I liked that the last line was about a turtle. Turtles are quiet, they don't seem to get into trouble like many of our species. They just swim, live and explore the sea. I think it would be a dream to live on a beach somewhere, like the turtle. The solitude and the scenery and sunrises, the sunsets would all be very beautiful. I've never saw an ocean up close, so I'm doing a bit of visualization.
I think you did an excellent job with the language and metaphors. I liked the poem a lot. Thank you for sharing it.

The best part of the entire poem is the last line
Thank you so much for reading and commenting Katina. I've watched many wildlife documentaries and sadly...most of the terrapins are picked off by predators before they can reach their birthing place on the beach to the sea.
It kind of reminded me of the isolation we are in. These are worrying times.
Best wishes - Syd
These times of isolation gives us the best excuse for putting pen to paper (or finger tips to keyboard) and just writing from our hearts and minds. A dark but refreshingly honest write, Syd x
Thank you for reading and commenting Christina. Yes, most of my writes are a bit on the dark side but "Poetry is a window to the soul"...
Someone much cleverer than me said that....Can't remember who.
Take care - Syd
