Poem -

Thanks

Your weight pushed down upon me like gravity, creating the memory that would ensnare my mind and steal my sanity.

Your hands locked around my neck like a vice, each of your actions were so meticulous and precise.

Your stare held me in silent shame laying beneath your scrutiny. Already I was trying to erase your memory and all of its crudity.

Your single word after was the final blow, that one word was all it took to push me into the darkness, into the shadows.

Thanks.

Thanks... As if my cries for help were nonexistent. Pretending my rape had turned to sex just because you were persistent.

Thanks... As if I had served my one and only purpose. You fulfilled your needs, so it’s ok that you left me feeling worse than worthless.

Thanks... As if rape culture was so ingrained, this wasn’t actually a sexual assault. I was probably asking for it, it was probably my fault.
