Poem -

THAT FIRST MEETING

Our paths met briefly on a crowded street
You turned my head and my heart skipped a beat
I followed you into the deserted coffee store
What I would say to you I wasn't really sure

Our eyes met and you smiled my way
Made it easier for me and I knew what to say
"Let me buy this coffee for you" I said to you
The conversation then followed just like old friends do

When the coffee was over we did the modern thing
We exchanged numbers and I promised to ring
I look back at that first meeting with happiness and glee
Thinking all the time relieved that you don't like tea
