That long snakey queue đź’™

That long snakey queue đź’™

People waiting
Agitating
Standing in a long snaky queue

Fingers fiddling on their smart phones
With nothing else much to do

Making small talk with one another
Trying to brighten up the blue

Oh my goodness gracious me
Everybody’s getting in a stew

And the lucky leader at the front of the line
Looks over his shoulder

There are geriatrics stood with walking sticks
That are much feebler and older

But the only ones at the very front
Have stood there for absolutely ages

Stuck in that long, snaky queue
Shuffling one step forward in small stages…

Hi Jill, I think you express the silent suffering well here. It’s been a strange time of late.

I loved the line
“trying to brighten up the blue”
people such as yourself have certainly helped brighten these dark times. With your blooming good poetry and wonderful imagination
