That Squint

That squint

Was it tiredness; one last grasp at the realm of rest

Was it pain; an attempt to defuse the agony

Was it recollection; a charge to the heart from a moment of love

Perhaps it was all three or two or none

Perhaps it was just the sunlight in his eyes

An eyelash out of placeĀ

Avaiding a temptation

Or an adjustment to leaving behind his focals

He may have an ideosyncratic tic

No, I'm sure it went deeper than that

So many stories about being human

In just one squint
