THE A TO Z OF UK TOWNS AND CITIES

A is for the Scottish city of Aberdeen
Scotland a place where I have never been
B is for Blackpool a fine English holiday resort
Relaxing times and sun rays trying to be caught
C is for Cardiff the capital city of Wales
Visit there my friend for rugby stories and tales
D is for Derby the city where I was born many years ago
Fifty two to be exact for those wanting to know
E is for Edinburgh another fine Scottish place
The castle a big part in this city's showcase
F is for Folkestone on the English Channel it lies
The harbour and port part of this town's enterprise
G is for Glastonbury well known for all music fans
A musical event visited by car, trains or clapped out vans
H is for Hastings the only place I've ever been drunk
Recall having a vague discussion with a punk and a monk
I is for Ipswich their football team wear blue
One of the few remaining towns believe me it's true
J is for Jesmond the only place starting  with J
Why this should be I'm puzzled and cannot say
K is for Kendal home of the famous mint cake
The views of this town are spectacular by the lake
L is for Liverpool birthplace of the Beatles we know
One of the best musical performers to put on a show
M is for Manchester a City or perhaps United
Enough to get football people happy and delighted
N is for Norwich the city where I now live and dwell
I love it to bits and has so many stories to tell
O is for Oxford a fine and delightful university city
Where the architecture is breathtaking and pretty
P is for Picadilly Circus the heart of London's West End
So many photographs taken here I know my friend
R is for Reading and spelt the same as reading a book
Very confusing and something we should not overlook
S is for another place in London called Soho
Where men in long shady overcoats happen to go
T is for Tiverton a picturesque place in Devon
Somewhere I want to visit since the age of seven
U is for Uppingham one of the last remaining market towns
Living in a small place carries its usual ups and downs
V is for Vauxhall located in London's south west
Cricket fans get off there for a one day match or test
W is for Wimbledon my favourite place I love to be
Been going to watch the tennis there since 1993
Y is for York a city that's is on my bucket list
I hear the views are very difficult to resist

So I have purposely missed the letters Q, X and Z
No towns or cities I'm afraid entered my head

B is for Bristol with its awful memories of Edward Colston ,but on a brighter note
Its where Isambard Brunel built his Suspension brige and his beautiful boat .

Being Me

Love what you done here, Kieran!  Bill is right though, Jersey is NOT a part of the UK. The Channel Islands are independent ? Still a nice, fun poem though x
