THE APPLE OF HER DADDY'S EYE

She was rooted here and he was over there 
Out of sight he was on a field barren and bare
Social distancing meant they were far apart
Always though part of her Daddy's heart

Mummy was taken early for a posh lady's pie 
This caused this young lady to weep and to cry
Granny Smith was close by but also out of reach
Hard to be an apple she would rather be a peach

Sure it sounds rather grand being outside all day
It can be rather dangerous when storms come into play
Fruit this lady maybe to the likes of you and me
However she has a life as you can duly see
