The Beach With The Cave

The Beach With The Cave

On the wall it hung, a picture of cave on beach drenched in sun

It reminded us of better times, when we were young,
long before our mothers battle with alcohol addiction had begun

Dad would just get in the car and take us anywhere,
as long as the sun was shining we didn't care

Fast forward twenty years, through the battles, scars and tears

I wanted to find the beach with the cave I visited when I was just aged ten,
to relive those happy memories with my own children

In the car we drove and drove, until I finally found that sacred cove
The beach that reminded me of happier times, innocence, peace & love

Exploring rock pools and the cave, happy memories came flooding back with every crashing wave

Happiness, it seems can almost stop the clocks,

I went about my day reminiscing happy memories amongst the jagged rocks

I only wish my mother could have been here now,
perhaps it's possible that from up above and with smiles and love she is watching us somehow

The storm of her last turbulent years has given way to sunshine and happy smiles,
for now the fog has cleared and I can see for miles and miles

Too soon the day is over, to reach home we have a long car ride

My memories are refreshed and pure, just like the beach shall be after the receding tide
