The Beautiful Beast
Electric eerie silence falls, anticipation builds
Sun blazes down on the plains as the arena fills
Smiles on faces, awaiting the greatest show
Some quizzical, wondering if they should stay, or go
An iron gate opens, thereβs an audible gasp from the crowd
The majestic beast appears, the crowd now excited and loud
The beast breaths fast, itβs heart rate pumpingΒ
The crowd now crazy, clapping and jumping
Itβs tentative steps clouded in hot fiery dust
The crowds intimidating screams filled with thirsty bloodlust
A beast so confused sees the colour of red
The matador stood proud, Montera of black on his head
His cape dances around the air enticing and teasing
The beast, head down, charges, snorting and wheezingΒ
Crowds erupt, clapping, a frenzy as lances appear
The picadores jabbing him hard, void of all fear
Heavily bleeding, the beast is weakened, exhausted and dazed
The Matadors sword strikes him dead, shining eyes now glazed
Is this really a show? Β Killing defenceless animals for fun?
Can they not see the cruelty they commit under the hot blazing sun?Β

Humans are the most vicious and cowardly species on the earth. We treat the animals we share the planet with terribly. Excellent awareness poem xx

Mine too...when I first came on here I published loads about the torture in the dog/cat meat trade( I'm an online activist) but people turned away as it's so hard to read and know...harder for the animals that suffer the abuse though Tracy...?

It's compassion that makes us human, sadly humans have forgotten this and selfishness has turned our species to stones. If we cannot find the sheer beauty in the variety of life around us and all we want to do is torture and kill it...what hope for us?? I admire yours also Tracy xx
