The bewitching Barn owl
Clandestinely the creature comes out of her cubbyhole
She is on an eventide rendezvous to hunt for a vole
Or any small nocturnal rodent would be nice
She is on a mission for a vision for scuttling mice
The beautiful Barn owl braves the winter weathers
with the whistling wind boisterously blowing her feathers
Tho times can be a struggle for this independent soulÂ
She has three hungry mouths to feed in her cubbyhole
Never-the-less she must be fearless and fly on her dangerous delving of do or die
As she clings her claws on the edge of the ledgeÂ
her twenty-twenty vision spies food amidst a hedge
So like a bat out of hell but with the grace of God
She takes off with tenacity and alights on a rod
There is a minute mouse amidst some mossy grass
her tiny bulbous eyeballs shine like crystal glass
With tapering talons and self assured strong willÂ
This barbarous Barn owl commits her kill
Not a screech nor a squeak was heard from her happenstance
As she slaughtered the sacrifice with her hooky lance
Clutching her capture she glides thru the night
Such a shadowy spectral supernatural sight
Like a graceful ghostÂ
A haunting hallucination
Is our bewitching Barn owl
Mother Nature’s sensation
