~ The Birth Of The Moonlight Ballet ~

~ The Birth Of The Moonlight Ballet ~

The ocean lay still this night,
No ripple born,
A sheer mirror in the darkness...

The moon, dancing freely
Upon the horizon,
Glimmers, in the heart of it
As though this, were its birthplace
A slow-moving,
Moonlight, ballet...

Sophocles, many moons ago
Heard of its birth
Upon the Aegean,
And spread its light on "Dover Beach"
But, this is no tale of misery
This is pure magnetism,
And the emergence
Of the Moonlight Ballet....

Where, if the moon,
Were just a few feet to the left,
There would be no life
Here, on planet earth
And so,
The Gods found it necessary
To dance, upon a clear bed of water
To birth the sun's only daughter....

I stand here marveling at this world of syncretism,
I marvel in my minds eye, and the million questions
Meld...

I stand here in wonder as
The ocean here, now, can appear, as ice
And though its only happened twice,
It seems crystal clear,
To the physicist's ear
That there are, quite simply,
Very few ways
To create a moonlight ballet...

Perhaps
Upon a sheer,
Mirror,
In darkness
Or,
With a finger,
Drawing,
In the sands,
Of time....

This is another simply beautiful and soulful write Tony. I agree, it's almost impossible to look at the beauty of the moon or anything in the night sky without being in total awe and full of questions. I believe such moments feed our souls...and in your case a pen ...pinned 💕

Wow Tony. This is truly an awesome piece. The moon is such a wonderous thing and it's one of my favourites to write about in nature and in science. I love the way you have captured it through your poetic verses. Flows gently like a song.
I love verse 4 and 6, how you explained it through earths history and science/universe. Ssoo pinned! Px💜

Thank you PRATIBHA!!!.......sorry for the delay in my reply to your most kind comment.....the Moon is such an important object.....the object of ALL objects!!......It is hollow.....it was moved into position (into our orbit) so that humanity could survive perfectly!!.....it is so Perfect that it's quite threatening.......we'll have to talk about that some time!!......thanx for the 'way cool' comment girlfriend!!.....and may your future days be the stuff of great excess and wonderfully loving moments of "No Worries"!!......stay groovy sister!!........LOVE & ROCKETS!!....T xo  : )

Hello Tony...

I've always enjoyed the Moon...

I do think it's awesome to see it in the daytime but, at night it definitely brings a different feel...

But, you have definitely helped me see it in a whole new way...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Think, Tony, this is the ONE I like the most from you so far.

To me, the moonlight ballet has to be only written by God, and no physicist can explain but dance. Have to pin this as well, congrats!

Thank you YIYAN!!....you're awesome man......so cool of you to go back and check this one out.......this is a re-write.....I always re-write my poems 3 to 6 months after they've been posted.....because one of my core beliefs is "To read, is to write, to have written..." and that "Writing is Re-writing"......and it NEVER fails me....when I go back to a poem that I've written many months earlier....I ALWAYS find room for improvement and I feel the gratification that writer's deserve....to have finished something that is simply perfect ~ or at least as perfect as I can make it!! ...every time I re-post something that I've re-written it ALWAYS gets better results than the first time I've posted it.....So, something for you to think about!!....Anyway, just wanted to say...it's been a pleasure to have you here in COSMO....it's a better place with you in it!......stay groovy brother poet!!......Peace....T xo  : )

Think we find something common - perfectionist - me as well. That's because we both are good science guys Ha ha ha - scientists always want things perfect, don't they!

Improvements are never ending though there is a limit - time, effort, other things important - not excuses ;) As I do translation as well so always there's a new way to recreate what's in the author's mind.

Oh how I love an Ocean write Tony and this is certainly outstanding. Your words have brought me into the scene of tranquility as the moon stands above it. I loved the phrase, a sheer mirror in the darkness. Well done👏👏👏👏
