The bite of the angelfish..a short story by Jude kyrie

The bite of the angelfish
By
Jude kyrie

For milleniums.
No one could find the male angelfish.
He was so tiny one could see him.
Not even in the cornucopia
If the coral reef.
The truth was he was tiny
And bit into the female
Protecting his seed
And became part if her.
Essentially they became one entity.

This is how it was when I first met Ben.
His thick g!assets
His mismatched socks
He was going to be a terrible nerd.
But why did he fill me
with the need of him.
Bit he did,,,,,,he did

After the lesson in biology
About the angelfish
I bit his shoulder.
As an eight year old girl.
He cried like a baby
But he had been Bitten
He  was attached
To me for eternity.

20 years later

Ben was the professor
Of quantum physics
At the university
I was his woman.

My teeth still in his shoulder
Never to let go.
He was a nerd
A card carrying nerd.
But he was my nerd.

The engagement was a success
Even Though Ben
was as white as snow.
And I was coffee colored.
Who the hell cares
my love,
he said

Not knowing his teeth
Were in my shoulder
He was mine
Only mine
for life we were one.

My belly swelled
It does when you mate.
It is the way immortality works.

The doctor was silent.
Then she said
you are not pregnant.
You have a mass.
That's a euphemism
For the C word.

It was big as a
dammed grapefruit.
It was cancer.
I was sentenced to die.

I joined a support group.
It was horrible.
But the old man was sweet.
I told him I gotta
take care of Ben.
the women out there
are bitches.
They  will eat him alive.
He didn't even need
to handle pubety.
I did it for him.

He told me it was flawed
It even has a name.
Predeceased control.
I ignored him and
searched the web
For a decent woman
To look after him.
To take my place.
I couldn't the women
get so fucked up..

But I got him to go
to an art festival.
On his own
I bought him a new outfit.
And made sure his socks matched.
I watched him from outside my car.
I saw him being eaten up by a blonde.
I am not able to have sex anymore.

He came back at three in the morning.
I was not ready for this
I just thought I was.
.I threw him out.
Dying women
can still get jealous you know.

He tried to get me back.
But my old man
from the support group
Said live for now honey.
It's all the time we got.

I called him on my iphone.
He came running over to me.
He Proposed
and gave me a beautiful ring.
I know he couldn't afford it,
But he placed it on My finger.

The date was set for my wedding.
I knew I couldn't make it.
He found me dead in the bed
The next day.
Its ok we all are going there.
Each  and every one of us.

He visits my grave
And kisses the headstone.
I can see him.
He sometimes brings
his three children
With him,

He found my replacement,
all on his own.
Two years after I died.

And he seems so happy.
But even from the other side.
He cannot shake the angel fish
Bite he left in me.
